One of my goals for my time in Montana is to do more cooking. I've done okay so far but I haven't really pushed myself to try new things. Today for lunch, green leaf lettuce salad topped seared tuna topped with sliced, toasted almonds. Yum.

Did you sear the tuna yourself? Directions please! The salad looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenn! It's super easy, just be sure not to overcook the tuna (unless you like it like that) I buy frozen tuna since we don't really have a fresh seafood store in Red Lodge, let the tuna thaw in the fridge. I warm a little bit of olive oil in a pan, season both sides of tuna with salt & pepper. This time I also used a Blackened Seasoning Blend for a little extra kick. You can also use soy sauce or a teryiaki sauce. You don't have to use extra seasoning, just depends on the flavor you want. Anyways, make sure the pan is hot, place tuna in the pan (it should sizzle)and let it cook for I think around 2 minutes....then flip it. Sometimes I have to flip it a few times depending on how thick it is and how warm my pan was...the trick is to let the inside get warm, but not cooked. If it's a thick tuna steak, I'll hold it up and let the edges sear also....but that's just the way a like it. I had to practice a few times....it's not hard and totally worth it! Good luck and let me know how it turns out!
